Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about ChatGPT limits and how the meter works.

How do I check my ChatGPT usage limit?

Install ChatGPT Usage Meter and open chatgpt.com. A small strip above the chat box shows how many Thinking messages you have left, your 5-hour and weekly usage where your plan has them, and when each limit resets.

Is ChatGPT Usage Meter free?

Yes. It's completely free and open source, with no account, sign-up or API key.

Which ChatGPT plans does it work with?

All of them: Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business. It shows whatever ChatGPT reports for your account. On Free and Go that's Thinking messages left and feature quotas; 5-hour and weekly windows appear on plans that have them.

What does the limit forecast do?

It measures how fast you're using a limit and, if you're on pace to hit it before it resets, shows how long you have left (for example "~1h 12m left"). It needs about 12 minutes of activity to measure your pace, and stays hidden while you're on track.

Is my data safe?

Yes. The extension reads only the usage data ChatGPT already shows you, inside your own browser. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, and the source code is on GitHub.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave and other Chromium-based browsers.

Is this an official OpenAI product?

No. ChatGPT Usage Meter is an independent tool built by SelectorsHub. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.
