Add the extension
Install from the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons. Nothing to configure.
Open the search box
Click the icon or press Alt+Shift+F. Type any part of the name, title or domain.
Open it, or save it
Click a result to open it — or press the star to bookmark the tab you're already on.

One click to bookmark this tab
A star sits inside the search box, in the place Chrome puts its own and with the same grammar: hollow means the page isn't saved, filled means it is. Hovering a filled star empties it, so you can see what the click will do before you make it.
It writes the title for you
Raw page titles arrive padded with unread counts, repeated site names and marketing tails. Those are trimmed before the bookmark is saved. Nothing is invented — the saved name is always a subset of what the page called itself, and you're told what it chose.
Two keys, no clicking
Both work on any tab. Neither needs the popup to be open first.

On a Mac these are Option+Shift+F and
Option+Shift+D. If another extension already
claims a combination, Chrome quietly leaves it unassigned rather than warning
you — open chrome://extensions/shortcuts to see what is registered
and to set your own.
